These 14 friends got together some ago, instigated by Tina, plotted and planned, and then all stitched upon this gift for me.ย  All of their needles have been though this fabric.ย  All of their hands have touched it. If the frogs have visited then all of their voices would have cursed over it ๐Ÿ˜€

The last name on the list Debbie, lives in Australia, and she had the piece framed and sent to me.ย  She was originally going to visit and deliver in person, but my migraines precluded that ๐Ÿ™

Framed Piece

I was originally going to put here a humorous anecdote about Debbie being mysterious about a parcel she was sending and the postal worker warning me the monitor box was too light and I should open it in the post office instead of taking it home in case parts are missing, but instead I will just copy a portion of the email I send to the above friends earlier this morning:

I really can’t believe all that time effort that you guys put into this for me.ย  It’s beautiful and I love it. From the fabric and floss choices which appear to be Silkweavers Wandering Ivy (a favourite) and Vikki Clayton’s Dragon Hoard (did Karen pick that out?) the colours are so vibrant and so gorgeous!

It makes me smile every time I see it.ย  I know I have lost touch with some of you and I would like to rectify that ๐Ÿ™‚ and for those I still keep in regular contact with – thank you from the bottom of my heart! Thank you especially to Tina who I believe is the instigator of this caper?ย  You minx you! And all of you for holding out on me – not one word out-of-place from anyone!ย  I didn’t have a single inkling ….

We have hung it pride of place in the lounge room in line of sight from my usual spot so I can see it whatever I am doing. Thank you, you have brought portable sunshine into my home ๐Ÿ™‚

Again I say thank you. I keep typing words down but they cannot express the “oh wow” I feel every time I see it or the warmth I feel for every one of you wonderful women.ย  You have placed a permanent part of yourselves in my home and in my heart.

THANK YOU!

Bad Photo but it does show the true colours of the piece

How wonderful. Whenever you look at it, remember how special you are to us all. This speaks volumes that so many of your friends all put their time, their love & their sneakiness into planning & delivering this.

I only wish I’d known as I too would have dropped needles to put some stitches in too.

  2. Ohh Wow what a wonderful surprise, You are a very very lucky girl.

I was fairly new to the original group, still mainly a lurker, but proud to be asked by Tina if I wanted to join in. As one of the earlier stitchers, it was fun watching the evolving of the stitching, since each time it moved, we got update pics!! All the while maintaining secrecy!! What perfect timing, to deliver when you needed something cheery!! Cyn

  5. OOOOoh can someone show the update pics here or link them here – I’d love to see how this evolved!

  6. I note a little, black nose checking it out too ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Thanks so much to Tina for the WIP pics – mum and I loved looking at them and watching this project evolve ….. thank you again everyone ….

  8. I am so glad it finally reached you! I love the framing that was picked out!!! Glad it gave you a smile. You are loved by lots of people even if we aren’t always talkative or around much!
