Oh what a wonderful wonderful stitchy week! Two finishes and so many presents! Earlier this week Deborah Sharp, oh I mean “Eeyore”, RAKed me with a wonderful spiderweb chart from Bev Lovethythread.

Along Came a Spider Love Thy Thread

Deborah Sharp

Today I received a package in the mail from Deb Koch of Stitches N Things. A while ago I won a the AuryTM chart from the Norden Crafts Ltd. giveaway and asked them to send it to Stitches n Things for me. I added a couple of other charts to the order (so Deb would not be paying international mailing costs for nothing) and waited. Unfortunately FB did a fairly standard muckaround and Katy from Norden’s didn’t get my message of where to send my free chart. So I missed out. I didn’t realize and rectify in time – totally my fault. So I told Deb at Stitches n Things to send on my order of the couple of charts anyway.

Today, this parcel arrived in the mail !!!! Deb gave me the AuryTM chart for free !!!! I am utterly gobsmacked !!! Thank you thank you thank you Deb !!!! Thank you thank you !!

And finally, I just came in from opening the mail and found I had won another chart from Nordens! Mariposa from Threedles!! I’m definitely getting this one sent to Stitches N Things – Deb is getting a lot of my (admittedly small) business from now on just because she is such a wonderful person !!!!

Thank you soo much Tim!

This arrived in the mail on Friday.  It’s a stitchable iPad cover.

iPad Stitch Kit from Tim

I haven’t opened the packet yet, but it looks like you use the blue and brown floss to stitch a motif in the perforated area, and then the beige string to tie the two sides of the cover/pouch/sleeve together.  According to the back of the pack, there are 30 motif designs included and at least one is a cat 🙂

Well I have my weekend project organised – now just to select a motif pattern …. hmmm that may take weeks …  maybe I’ll need to put up a poll ….

Thank you Tim !!!!  I’ve not seen one of these before. It is sooo cute and perfect!

Well we made it all through January and a project was posted every single day. Once or twice they were posted at 10pm at night, but they made it in that 24 hour window.  Something that deep down I was not expecting 🙂 Let’s see if we get through February 🙂

Organising Bug:

I also discovered this month while posting these (and breaking my inventory and shopping list database) that this project is also helping me to:

  • correctly inventory my stash
  • physically organise my stash
  • prioritize my stitching queue
  • review my wips and kitted up items
  • declutter the items that I’ve grown apart from
  • refine my spending habits
  • rewrite my wish lists in order of my stitching queue

Post Office:

I’m a very slow on my posting out as I’ve been in too much ill-health to leave the house lately, but as a result of the Project-a-day, I have packaged up ready to go to the Post Office:

  • Generations: The Locket – to Theresa
  • Baroque Angel – to Anna
  • Two Mirabilia Queens – to Laura (promised how long ago?)
  • New York – to Chele (promised while I was stitching it)
  • a packet of Tim Tams  – to Tina (for finding a discontinued thread for Aurora Polaris)
  • a packet of Tim Tams – to Laura (for loads of blog comments on a day I needed cheering up

This is on top of the mailing that went out earlier in the month:

  • Hell’s Gatekeeper – to Barbara
  • Dear Santa – to Terry
  • Birthday floss club – to Michele (already arrived – yay!)
  • assorted RAKs that haven’t landed so I’m not mentioning

January Review of Decisions:

Gilt Star really isn’t going to rise high enough in my priority list to stitch. Even when typing up the listing on the day, I was in two minds whether to keep it or offer it out. I discussed the series of Celtic Gilt Pillows with mum that night.  I have other Landmark charts in my stash that I would rather stitch first.  The result is that one chart went into mum’s stash, one chart I dithered over and wanted to put back into my stash for a decision to be made next time it is randomly chosen, so it and the two others (including Gilt Star) have been wrapped as a present and will be sent as a RAK next time I go to the Post Office.

Puzzle. I’ve mulled over this one since I first posted it (and actually studied the chart directions and details for the first time). I agree with the commenters that this design will not achieve the illusion I thought it would. Couple that with the poor directions and my Swiss Cheese brain, and I wanted to throw this one back into stash and think on it next time it is randomly chosen. Again, if I’m thinking like that, then this chart is not for me.  As can be seen this month, I have more than enough charts that happily satisfy my stitching needs without agonising over a chart that maybe will or maybe wont do what I want, so I’m releasing this one.  Free to good home.  Visit the Puzzle page for the next week to comment if you love this chart.

Mar Bek charts.  Rather than waiting for these to come out one at a time, I’m going to go through all of my Mar Bek charts tonight with mum and put up a list tomorrow of all the items that no longer call to me. Not sure how many there will be, but as I first mentioned them on via this blog, I will offer the rest of them out to people via this blog. Check back tomorrow for details.

The Stitching Wish Lists are in a state of flux at the moment since I broke my inventory and shopping database and am slowly recreating them via the Project-a-Day.  The Wish Lists on the Multiply Blog are accurate.  Items are being removed as they are being added to the WishLists on this blog above or they are no longer needed.  New items are NOT being added to the Multiply pages.

As charts are being RAKed to me, or as they come up in the Project-A-Day, I am adding their details to my new improved database and to the Wish Lists in the drop down menus on this blog.  I hope by the end of the year, to be using these Wish Lists exclusively and to have closed down the Multiply Lists. As can be seen I’m a little behind at present ….

While I’ve been gleefully plotting and planning Kay’s birthday surprise with a few of her friends for the last month, some people have done some plotting and planning of their own!

Junior Mints Dinky Dyes Socks

From Sisu

From Sisu I received some of my very favourite American chocolates ever!  Yes you see empty packets in this photo!!  A pair of socks to remind me what my very favourite American chocolates are – Sisu is very thoughtful as she knows how shockingly poor my memory can get 🙂 Finally there is the most gorgeous bookmark chart and floss for me to make up as a memory to Trubs.  You picked well Sisu – the cat in the model even has one ginger hind leg like Trubs did …

Thank you so much Sisu – it is a wonderful parcel full of thoughtful perfect gifts!

Vickery Collection Carries Threads Inkcircles Scissors Fob

From Rosanne

From Rosanne I received her copy of Mike Vickery’s Celtic Cross Stitch book.  I discussed stitching some of my secret Christmas stitching projects from this book and Rosanne offered to send me her copy.  Not only did she ignore all offers of payment, she also sent me the cutest little scissor fob – a beaded one that Abby hopefully wont focus attention on.  And if that wasn’t enough she also included four skeins of Carries silks, for the Ink Circles chart, Red Square.

Thank you so much, the inclusions were a real surprise, and your letters brought tears to my eyes.  You wouldn’t accept payment for the book, but I’ll figure out something!

Chatelaine Debbie

From Debbie

Debbie sent me the kit (minus fabric) for Chatelaine Midi Mystery IV!  Such a generous surprise! I’ve barely finished Midi Mystery I, but as Debbie says I now have no excuses not to finish the set!

Thank you Debbie, your kindness is as usual, overwhelming!  And thank you for the mystery!  Over a week of wondering who this as from!  This is karma for the fun I was plotting for Kay – wasn’t it ….

Thank you so much my friends – you never cease to amaze me!

birthday floss club

Elizabeth’s handmade card is absolutely exquisite! I love it!  Thank you so much !!!!   And the threads will come in *very* useful too!

Gentle Arts 0250 Cornflower

Gentle Arts 0310 Claret

Thanks so much Elizabeth – taking the time and effort to hand make such an exquisite card is beyond my capabilities!

Birthday floss club

Meg has been in Uruguay for quite some time before heading back to the US.  I wonder of that’s where she found such a beautiful card?  It is made of paper from sustainlably managed forests so its eco-friendly as well as elegant!

Meg also sent a surplus of wonderful threads!  These threads have no pre-determined use so I can just play with them.  Actually these threads might go very well with the fabrics that Tina sent.

ThreadworX 1059 Mystique

ThreadworX 1129 Merlot

ThreadworX 10241 Grapes

Rainbow Gallery Silk Lame Braid SL39 Lagoon

The green mystique might go well with the moss-green dovestitch fabric while the Merlot and grapes might look good on the blue/grey fabric.  We may be talking a match made in heaven.  Well some might equate my stash room with heaven …

I’ve not used the Silk Lame before, it appears to be a thick thread …. hmmm pondering – I’ll find somewhere I can use it fairly immediately I’m sure.  I don’t have much patience when I want to try out something new 🙂  I’m sure there’s a blackwork Christmas ornament pattern calling my name.

Stitched card birthday floss club

Oh my!!!  I was sooo surprised when I opened the envelope and saw this gorgeous hand stitched card!  Anne it is beautiful!  Really pretty – and in my favourite colours – green and black!

Anne also included a few threads I need to kit up a few of designs too!

Gloriana 102 Fresh Snow – Will be used in M Designs’ Snowflake

ThreadworX  1133 Summer Shadows – Will be used in Enchanting Lair’s Galaxy Dragon

Dinky Dyes Silk 031 Choco Latte – Will be used in Dinky Dyes’ Kitty Love

Thank you so much Anne!  It is such a beautiful card and a thoughtful selection of floss – I can’t wait to start stitching with the Fresh Snow – Gloriana is one of my favourite threads!  I’m still gobsmacked at the hand stitched card.  Still trying to find the right place to put it ….

Abi threads birthday floss

Abi sent me a gorgeous card reminding me of my (ahem) age …. and some beautiful and useful skeins of floss in blues and greens!  I can’t even be pretend mad at her for the card because it is quite pretty!  The large handful of threads are:

DMC Perle #5 798 Delft Dark Blue – Will be used in Northern Pine’s Ebb Tide

Threadworx 1059 Mystique – Will be used in Northern Pine’s Blue Bayou

Crescent Colours Bejeweled – Will be used in Enchanting Lair’s Water Dragon

Dinky Dyes 043 Aquamarine – Will be used in Enchanting Lair’s A Dragon’s Crest

Rainbow Gallery Petite Braid PB62 Morning Water – Will be used in FireWing’s Stardust

Weeks Dye Works 2131 Aqua – Will be used in FireWing’s Stardust

Thank you so much Abi – your generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness grows each day.

These threads will help me finish kitting up some of my favourite projects and those Northern Pine designs will help me practice some of those new stitches you’ve been teaching!

Ink Circkes Quaker Floral Puzzle

Oh My Goodness Kay – what a parcel !!!!!!  I am gobsmacked !!!!  surreptitiously asking me about the chart for Tracy’s Quaker Floral Puzzle and then sending me chart and fabric and the silk conversion pack !!!!  Well I know what the next “for me” stitching will be …. or is it the next “for Kay” stitching 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂  It’s all wrapped up ready to go in that beautiful bag.  I’ve checked – it will fit everything needed included the q-snaps 🙂

I love the bag!  Will fit any of my projects except the current one requiring the 17″ q-snaps 🙂

Also in the birthday bundle is Calico Crossroad’s Puurfect Pitch.  I’ve just been reminded that these charts have all been discontinued and I cannot find them for sale anywhere, so thank you thank you thank you!

As well as the chart for Xs and Ohs Seanicorn Family, I see you’ve tracked down the Ribbon Band fabric to turn the completed piece into a bell pull.  I’ll have to track down the cute castle shaped bell pull rod.  Chele – do you have ideas where I could source one of those?

The bookmark and the chocolate box full of tea sachets brought tears to my eyes.  You are such a fantastic friend and you have “been there” for me through everything this year and last year and the year before and the year before that …..

Truly you are a fantastic person and I do not deserve such a fabulous friend in my life!

Dovestitch fabric

Tina sent these two beautiful pieces of fabric from Dovestitch.  I’m already scheming of various projects to use the mottled blue/grey on.  But the other piece is very unusual with the edging stripes of pink, white and blue up one edge.  I presume that’s just the dying edge, but I want to use it. My brain is whirling with book mark ideas that could incorporate three or all four colours. Any ideas, suggestions, recommendations?

I’m really looking forward to stitching on this Dovestitch fabric now I’ve heard so much about it. It feels so soft in the hand, and the holes are so easy to see.
